CD Does Not Play Audio or
Audio is only on Introductory Lesson
This solution is only for
Win/Mac Version CDs that are being played on Macs and Windows 2000,
XP, or Vista Operating Systems. Your CD should say Win/Mac Version on the
right hand side of the label. If it does not, please go to the
Tech Support page and click on your CD version. If you are not
sure what operating system you have, click on Start >Right Click My Computer
> Properties. With Vista click on Start > Right Click on Computer >
Properties.
This problem is due to a
bug in the QuickTime 7.3 update. The solution is to update to QuickTime 7.4
or higher. Please follow these instructions carefully to ensure proper
updating.
Macintosh Users:
Update to QuickTime 7.4 or higher using the Mac update utility.
Windows 2000, XP, and Vista Users:
Please complete the following instructions.
A. Print this page.

B. Update to QuickTime Player 7.4 or higher
1. Double click on the QuickTime icon on your desktop.
2. Click on Help > Update existing software.
3. Follow the prompts to complete the update.
4. Restart your computer.
5. Close everything down then open your QuickTime Player again. If you
get a message asking if you want to restore file types to QuickTime, click
Yes.
C. Open a Lesson:
How you open a lesson depends on what version your CD is. Please read the
right hand side of the DIVE CD label and follow the appropriate
instructions.
1. S, SR1, and M Versions
(If there is an S, SR1, or M printed under “Win/Mac Version for Macs and
Windows 98 and higher” please follow these instructions.)
a.
Place the DIVE CD in your CD drive. The DIVE menu should pop up but it
may take a couple of minutes.
b.
Click on the lesson you wish to view. QuickTime Player should open but
may take a couple of minutes.
c.
Click Edit on the top menu bar of the player. Next click Preferences >
Player Preferences > General Tab. Under “Other” near the bottom of the
box make sure Show Content Guide does not have a check mark next to it.
If it does, simply click the check mark to unselect the content guide.
d.
Click the Play button at the bottom of the player. If you cannot see
the arrow, click and drag the top of the player up until you see the
play button.
2. Win/Mac Version
(If there is not an S, SR1, or M under “Win/Mac Version for Macs and Windows
98 and higher” please follow these instructions)
a.
Place the DIVE CD in the drive. If any windows pop up, please close them
down.
b.
Double click on the QuickTime Player icon on your desktop. It is a blue
Q.
c.
Click on File > Open File> CD Drive (Vista Users will need to click on
Computer first).
d.
Double click on the lesson you wish to view.
e.
Click Edit on the top menu bar of the player. Next click Preferences >
Player Preferences > General Tab. Under “Other” near the bottom of the
box make sure Show Content Guide does not have a check mark next to it.
If it does, simply click the check mark to deselect the content guide.
f.
Click the Play button at the bottom of the player. If you cannot see the
arrow, click and drag the top of the player up until you see the play
button.
D. Common Problems
1. Can’t
Uninstall QuickTime Player or Can’t Install New QuickTime Player
This is a Windows issue which is resolved by going to www.windows.com and
running Windows installation clean up utility. We recommend you contact a
computer tech to help you with this as it is a computer problem not a CD
problem. However, we have had Windows customers who have downloaded the
Windows Installer CleanUp Utility and used it to uninstall QuickTime.

2.
I have a Win/Mac S, SR1, or M and the
DIVE Menu does not open.
Due to certain settings on your computer (security, default players, etc)
the menu is not allowed to open. The solution is to open the DIVE CD thru
QuickTime Player.
i.
Double Click on your QuickTime icon on your desktop or go to Start > All
Programs > QuickTime > QuickTime Player
ii.
Click File > Open File and box will open that says Look In with a drop
down arrow on the right.
iii.
Click on your CD drive which should have the title of your DIVE CD.
iv.
Click Open Me First > Getting Started
v.
When the QuickTime Player opens click the play button at the bottom of
the player.
vi.
Each time you want to watch a lesson simply put the CD in the CD drive,
open QuickTime Player, select your CD drive, then select the lesson you
want to watch.
3.
Video but no audio
Make sure your speakers are turned on. Also make sure the volume button
at the bottom of your QuickTime Player is all the way to the right and it
is not muted. Then check your CD to see if it has any scratches or
smudges.
